Friends of Kisoro provides psychosocial services to refugees in the Nyakabande Transit Centre & the local Uganda community in Kisoro District.

As seen here, most FROK clients identify as female. It is estimated that 95% of women in the Nyakabande Transit Centre have survived Sexual & Gender Based Violence (SGBV). In a recent Needs Assessment, only 31% of FROK clients reported experiences of SGBV - highlighting how underreported sexual violence is.

80% of Friends of Kisoro clients are survivors of torture and 44% have reported at least one family member being killed by armed groups.

 

Almost all FROK clients in The Camp have fled from the DRC and 65% are between the ages of 18-39.

Most Friends of Kisoro clients are adults, but of the children who have sought services, 76% of them came to The Camp as unaccompanied minors.

Kisoro Host Community:

70% of clients identify as female and 63% of both women and men reported domestic violence.
